On the origin of vesuvianite-rich rodingites from the Western Carpathians, Slovakia

Rodingite represents a particular metasomatic rock type that occurs as dykes or lenses in association with serpentinized ultramafic rocks and typically consists of Ca-rich, often hydrated silicate minerals. Rodingites have been recognized source information on fluid compositions their circulation both ocean floor subduction environments. Yet, the nature protoliths, chemistry origin fluids, details fluid-rock interaction, metamorphic context remain obscure. This work investigates some these questions case rodingites from Western Carpathians through petrological, mineralogical geochemical studies. are here associated field tectonically dismembered bodies embeded into Carboniferous metasediments. They mostly consist vesuvianite, diopside, garnet minor titanite, chlorite, epidote, calcite FeTi oxides. Three successive hydrothermal events were recognized: 1) formation vesuvianite garnet, 2) second generation together titanite 3) mineral assemblage consisting chlorite calcite. The first two represent pervasive intense rodingitization process, whereas third one late, channeled, under greenschist facies conditions. presence oxides influences mineralogy whole investigated rodingites.
